Short bio
Lou Massett grew up in the Society of St. Pius X and spent five years at its boarding school in St. Marys, Kansas, before leaving the movement in his early twenties. Traddyland: Memoir of a Radical Traditional Catholic (2026) is the first book-length account of growing up inside the SSPX. He lives in central New York.
Long bio
Louis Massett was born in Bridgeport, New York, and raised from birth in the Society of St. Pius X, the traditionalist order founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. At thirteen he was sent to St. Mary’s Academy in St. Marys, Kansas, the Society’s flagship boarding school, where he spent five formative years. He left the movement in his early twenties and has watched it from the outside for thirty years since. Traddyland: Memoir of a Radical Traditional Catholic, published in June 2026 in English and Spanish, is the first book-length account of growing up inside the SSPX. It has been covered by Newsweek, National Catholic Reporter, UnHerd, and El Español. Massett lives in central New York.
